Dr Virago Pete's Virago Starter System
Repair Video.

Hello everyone,
If you're like me you like to search for the very best way to do things. When I bought my 1982 XV920J Virago project bike, I had no clue what I was in for. You guessed it, the seller from my local town didn't tell me all of the headaches he had had and finally given up on. He just said, buy a new battery, and it will start right up. Well, I've been solving that puzzle for years, and she is a beauty now.
I wish someone had a book, videotape, cd or anything else at that time because I would have jumped at it. Instead, I spent countless hours of grief and mishap. Lucky for you and me I never gave up. You may have seen my ebay ad for a rotor (sometimes called a flywheel) repair that solves most troubles out there. Make sure it's from me, Dr Virago Pete, otherwise you may not like what you get.
I ask is to keep my secrets a secret because I depend on this to sell my video. Fair enough? If you feel like you didn't learn anything from it, please email, and I will credit your paypal minus shipping and handling.
Ok, what questions are answered. How does a properly operating Virago look and sound like? Maybe you are the only one in your area with one! We go for a ride, look at the controls, sounds, dash, starts, etc. Oh yeah, you're getting ahead of me now. Starter grinding noise- that is the main reason for buying my video. You want to know what is wrong. Well, I take you inside the engine while it is cranking and you see EXACTLY what is making that "box of rocks" noise. Better yet, I give you the cure.
A vast majority of Virago owners need a rotor replacement. You should also check to see of parts are worn. How do you know they're worn if you don't know what a new or good one looks like. I show you all of that- with measurements too so you know what to replace if needed. We take apart a starter, rebuild it, and put it back together. We take off the Lefthand side cover, cables, covers, bolts, and pegs. Do you know how to take one apart? You will.
Have you figured out which part needs to be removed to actually make it work? Of course, this video is for the XV920J; You know, the one with the digital dashboard or CYCOM as its' really called. The similarities between the J and other models are uncanny and beleive it or not many parts are interchangeable. I'll let you know which ones in the video so you have an easier time locating what you need.
Is your bike dull and rusty looking? No gimmick polishing and how it is done with a buffing wheel. Well worth the money. The only thing that I don't show you how to do is remove and replace your rotor- that is best left to professionals. And I will tell you why, and explain what can happen. You should however study the video buy a brand new rotor or have me recut it right and take it to a mechanic for replacement. Thinking about buying shim kits, cleaning your carburator, buying aftermarket gismos, a new battery, a new starter - check out my video first and get only what you really need.
I show you a starter with shims installed (Yamaha genuine shims) where it goes and you decide if it works. Do you want to know what the Yamaha part number is for the parts needed in starter related issues? If something you read here sparked your interest, then make sure you pay immediately via paypal including shipping.
This CD-ROM disc requires an Up-to-date PC. Don't have a PC compatible computer or maybe have one too slow - maybe a friend does or you can use one at work? Believe me it is a real thrill to ride such a fine machine. You'll love it- once you get it to start and run. Incorporate my tips and secrets, but please SSSHHHHH it's our secret. Please allow a few days for delivery (I do check my email frequently and try to ship within 3-4 days after payment is received.) Paypal or money order is accepted. Just email me if you are not sure how to go about purchasing.
